I just broke the narrow front pedestal clear off on my 4430 (Maybe the saddle sprayer tanks were too much for it). Will an older rollomatic like on the B fit on this tractor? what would be the best front end to replace the broken one with? Thanks for any input. George.

George. I have a heavy duty rollomatic off a 4020. I don't know where you are, but I'd sell it for $250. I'm in Central Ill. I also have one off a 2510, if anyone is interested.

George, I think you're asking for trouble, hanging saddle tanks on anything with a nfe is dangerous, cultivators are hard enough on rollomatics let alone saddle tanks, you'd be better off with a wfe, but if you are wanting a nfe stick with one that is a heaving duty, you will have to get casting numbers from your dealer, the rollamatics had heavier pivot spindles, the covers have a different bolt pattern also. Good Luck chris

George:

What part broke ? We broke the lower part off from the upper part on our 70D, and it is connected by a large (1", or 1 1/8 ?) pin that is rivetted in. We got the new pin at JD, and our local welder/blacksmith removed the old one and installed the new. Slick as that.

Otherwise, look for a heavy duty roll-a-maitc from a 4020. I'm not certain, but I believe it is the same unit.

BTW, the pin and the rivets should be in the parts book, but ARE NOT ILLUSTRATED !

You'll have to look at the bottom of the parts list for that illustration, and it says "Parts Not listed...."

For example, on the 70 Rollamatic:

R 20118 R - Pin, Steering Spindle Extension
17 H 204 - Rivet in Roll-A-Matic housing (2 used)
17 H 249 - Rivet in Steering Spindle Extension (2 used)

I would think the 4430 will be a similar situation.

Hope this helps !
