I have a 87 model 2750, that will not go into high range. I have removed the cab & the trans. top plate. There is a shifting fork that appears to be broken. Standing at the rear of the tractor it is on the left side, and the rear fork. When the shift lever is moved by hand the fork, slips out of place & does not move the gears. My question is, Does the tractor have to be split in order to remove this fork? Or is there a way to get it out without splitting? Sorry for such a long post. I'm ust trying to give enough info. for a good diagnosis. Thanks in advance for any replys

I had a similar problem with a 2440 and a 2155.Both required a split. If I remember right it was split between the trans front and rear of the bellhousing. Make sure you as you pull the rods out you dont let the detent balls fall into the transmission! If you need a quick fix to get you by, maybe its possible to weld the broken part of the fork that you can see.
