I was just wondering my 56' 60 was shaking a bit too much for me when I started it up last so I aired up my tires and took off the flwheel cover I pulled back hard side to side and back and forth but I do not have any play in it but I looked between the flywheel bolts that clamp it down and it looks smooth in there, is it supposed to be smooth or did the previous owner have a problem with it coming loose and they have it bolted tight so it doesn't move. Also I was needing to know about changing the ring gear on it I heard it can be done but not how. Thanks in advance for the help.

to take your ring gear off, take a punch with no point and slowly tap it off , tapping it about every inch or so it will come off easily, to put a new one back on, save your trash paper and put in a 55 gallon burn can, get the fire going and put a lid on the drum, lay the ring gear on it for like 5 minutes and have the tractor handy, it will go right on , I've done it.

Has the clutch ever been off of it? We got a 60 JD here a while back and the back pressure plate has to be timed. Whoever had taken it off before didn't know this and they got it out of time. There should be marks on it and the shaft. This will make the tractor shake pretty bad. Im not to sure on the flywheel part of it. But I have one off of a 60 if you need it. The ring gear is pretty good. If you need any other parts i have a whole parts tractor

I haven't had the flywheel off and it started shaking thelast two times I have run it. I need to start it again to see if it shakes after airing the tires back up they were pretty low. thanks for the info.
