I need to re-core my '48 model A. I have heard that some cores don't fit well and that some bolt holes are misplaced or not even drilled. Has anyone out there installed many of these cores and know where to get good consistent quality cores? Thanks in advance. John

I buy mine from a local radiator shop that way If it isn't right I can go talk to someone not just a phone. I also can specify how many rows of tubes I want to pay for. I ordered a core from centeral tractor once and returned it as it was not hardly any rows of tubes. I also make my own gaskets out of a thicker material than John Deere does as to seal up the castings that are rusted up. If the castings are real bad sometimes I get them resurfaced. Sometimes my local shop adds extra solder to tube area mainly at corners because most radiators
start leaking at corners around tubes solder can crack.

John:

I just installed a new core in my 70D, and the fellow that I bought it from deleivered it through A & I. The cost varied greatly among suppliers, from as high as $295 to $145. Two gaskets were $12, and $13 shipping for a total of $170 delivered to my door.

The only problem was a missing hole in one end flange, but I drilled the hole in the brass with no difficulty. In fact, I used the top tank as a guide, and it went just fine.

I am very pleased with the quality.

E-mail me and I'll give you the details of the supplier if you'd like.
