Have approximately one hours run time on my completely rebuilt John Deere LA engine. At first the engine ran perfectly smooth. then it started to run rough. Adjusting the idle screw had very little effect on the problem. Took out one of the Autolite 226 spark plugs and find that it was very badly fouled. What would be a better choice of spark plugs? Any other suggestions??

I was having the same problem. I retarded the timing a couple of gear teeth, and now it starts and runs much better. I use it to pull a five foot finish mower on my place, and ran it all last summer without changing plugs. I currently have some little Champions in it that came out of a lawn mower, so I know the timing helped.

We use the AC C-45L. Don't know if they will be any better but we have decent luck with them. With the new monkey pi$$ they call gas and lack of hard work, you better buy your plugs in boxes of 10 to get better price because you will probably need them.
