I have a 1970's,3 cylinder diesel JD 820 (German).
I was recently taking off in 6th gear and felt something grinding as I let out on the clutch. The tractor hesitated and it felt like, what I would imagine, a clutch slipping to feel like. I put it in a lower gear and it took off fine. I only experienced this in the higher gears 5-8.Is there a way to verify/check/repair this problem without tearing the tractor completely apart.
Thanks,
Steve

Might as well go ahead and split it, if it is doing what you are talking about it will have to be split before long, or other parts will be trashed. Most like a clutch and pressure plate assy. will be needed, as wekk as having the flywheel turned. Also it will need a throwout bearing. Not a hard job to do, can be split in about 45 minutes. Good Luck
