A few months back i had to put a new shaft and drive coupling in my p/s pump. i also put new seals.
When i refilled the unit i did it with hyguard
It leaked out so i used 40 wt motor oil. Now i see i should have bought the proper stuff instead of being cheap. Is there a chance if i get the correct power steering fluid that it will stop leaking or should i tear it back down. Its only leaking out of the end of the pump. Just a slow drop at a time. Thanks in advance. Chris

Chris, my old buddy Henry helped rebuild my 620 PS pump and we did 2 others in the last few weeks because they were leakers (520 and a 720). When I went to JD to buy the shaft end seals (fan end and fanshaft end), they showed and sold me one seal for each end only. However, Henry used 2 on each end (2 fit in just right) and we have no shaft leaks as you described. How many seals did you install in each end??? Ol John T Nordhoff in Indiana

Chris, there is a slight chance the leak will change with Deere P/S fluid but I doubt it. If the 40 weight oil leaked, probably almost anything else will too.....
