60 steering problem

My 60 has an intermittant steering problem. When turning left, the steering sticks. I have to give the wheel a jerk left some more and then it will turn back to the right.
I have the front off now and I am checking parts. The steering shaft has some play in the splines. I need to flush the old steering fluid out as it is milky from moisture.
I think if I take a shim out of the front end cap the steering will become tight.
I would like to get this cured as it is a bit exciting in the woods.
Thanks

Had this sticking problem on a 70, you really have to yank it to get it to break loose, our trouble was that there is a pin in the unit that sounds to me that it gets stuck and jams up when it gets worn, I guess this pin is really hard to get out and most places want to sell you a new part, but the pin is available from deere and it takes several drill bits to get it out, but it works great now, I wish I could be more specific, but I didn't actually get to see the whole job, a local repair shop did it for us. He new right away what it was, because it worked fine up until this time. If you need more info, e-mail me and i'll call him for more deatails.
