Parts prices vary from place to place. Probably anywhere from $500.00 to $1000.00 worth of parts depending on how far you really need to go.

For example. I would recommend checking the bore of the engine to see if you need to have it bored. Just putting new pistons and rings will not resolve your problem if your cylinders are egg shaped or scuffed. Now on the other hand if you find your cylinders do not need to be bored just purchase the size of rings you need, cross hatch the bore and install new rings on your old pistons(saves money). If you don't know try and find a good and honest mechanic/technician and he should be able to direct you properly.

Central Tractor - Quality Farm Supply can get you aftermarket kits. NAPA, CARQUEST and other quality automotive suppliers can get kits also. You can buy complete kits with gaskets or order parts by the piece. They will ask you sizes of piston bore, bearing sizes std or undersized, etc.

Don't worry, Dig right in.If you need help just ask. There is nothing like the satisfaction of taking the engine apart, seeing a bare block (wondering if it will ever run again! LOL), putting it back together and starting it up for the first time.
