I just purchased a used F525. For the most part it mows just a little too slow but I certainly have seen it when I was going at least the 5mph rated speed. When it was slow I thought maybe it was out of adjustment. Maybe it still is? The Big Clue is that reverse is Extremely Slow. It is just about too slow to have patience with when I press the reverse pedal. Hydrostatic drive, of course!

It sounds to me like a pedel adjustment problem, I own and manage a Golf course and have similar problems with some of my Deere hydros and fixed it with adjusting the linkage. I dont have a manual for that machine to give you the spec.
Its not likley but could be the hydro filter needs changing.

Good luck

I fiddled with it over the weekend and you are indeed correct. However, I think there's an adjustment somewhere that I haven't figured out how to make. I adjusted the pedal so it now goes fast whenever I want, but it is biased away from reverse. The two pedals are one cable linkage to the transmission. Pressing reverse results in very, very slow reverse, though you can put your foot under the forward pedal and pull it backwards for good reverse speed. I don't use reverse too often, but it would be nice to have it go fast in forward and reverse speeds. Where's the missing adjustment location?
