Hi everyone,

I started my 1951 M. It ran fine for about 5 minutes. I didn't drive it I just let it run. I heard a big bang inside the motor. It stalled and when I tried to refire it oil was coming out a hole in my manifold. I managed to get it running on 1 cylinder but you have to leave the choke on. It also smokes reel bad. There was plunty of good oil in the motor when I started it. Any help.

JDM Guy, you didn't give us much to go on.
~What kind of bang, ignition pop or metallic?
~Just one bang or was there more noise as it stopped?
~Does the oil smell like gasoline?
~What does it sound like when cranking?
~You probably should at least give it a compression test & pull the rocker cover to see if all the valves move & return to the same height.
~You might want to pull the oil pan to take a look also.
~You could have any number of problems from a piston that hit a sticking valve to a busted piston or rod to who knows what ?
~The idea of oil coming out of the manifold puts the probable causes in the "broke something like a piston" category. A compression test will tell you a lot. If you have absolutely "0" compression on one cylinder you probably broke something important. If you have decent compression on both cylinders & the noise was an ignition type pop, maybe it was a crankcase explosion that blew oil to the top end.
~Let us know what you find.

It was a ingnition pop I think because there was a huge cloud of smoke after. The thing is that there was a sound kind of like blow by while it was stalling. No gas in the oil, When you crank it sounds like nomal.

This sounds very much like a dropped valve. Pull out both spark plugs and hold your finger over the sparkplug hole as you crank the engine I bet one cylinder will not have any compression. Make sure you dont contact the sparkplug wire while your cranking it because that is a real road straightener., If you know what I mean.
