I don't believe that there ever was a FWA for the 3020. The Hyd front wheel assist was a poor unit for any tractor. The main hyd pump had to be increased in size to allow enough pressure and flow to run the front axle hyd motors. The flow needed overheated the hyd oil and usually starved the rest of the hyd system. Also the main hyd valve and solenoids were a constant problem as the valve would crack internally and the solenoids would fail because of dirt and debris contamination. Parts are expensive and hard to get. Any tractor equipped with the Hyd FWA was just a unit with snow tires on the front!!

Well, Mr. Know it All, 3020's WERE available with PFWD beginning with the 1969 models. The hydraulic front-wheel assist was meant to be just that, an assist for tight spots, and wasn't meant to be used all the time, like a MFWD. As long as the system wasn't abused, and was used as intended, it worked pretty well.

Alot of the components for the hydralic FWA are identical to the FWA currently used on John Deere Road Graders!

JD first offered Hyd FWA on 3020's and 4020's in 1969. I have a piece of 1970 JD literature that shows photos of tractors with this option. I think it be very difficult to find the parts to add to an existing tractor.

You could get Power front wheel drive on a 4020 or 3020 I'm not sure if you can do it on your 3020 But i know someone that had a 4430 two wheel drive, and they put power frout wheel drive on it. That was in 1975 or 76 it was $10.000 at that time. It helps some, but not like MFWD
