I have recently acquired a 45 loader which I plan to install on one of my Model 50s. The loader had no hoses. Question: What is the proper way to route hoses from one cylinder to the other?

All comments appreciated, however my loader has a foot pedal on the left side for cylinder operation so the Power-Trol hoses would have to connect to this valve. Do I have something unusual? I have seen the foot controlled valve mention here previously.

Foot control pedals were used on the model #50 loader {I think this is the model} It was built before the #45 It has the cylinders on the top of the frame and the #45 has the cylinders on the bottom of a pipe frame. Someone could have put the valve from a # 50 loader on a #45 ? See if your local dealer has parts books on both and the will show the hose routing. P.S. do you have a hydraulic dump bucket or a manual trip one ?

My cylinders are on top! The valve is 3 position, up, neutral and down. Pedal is mounted on the left and is operated on a pivot, one direction for the toe, other for the heel. I cannot tell the location of the pedal in relation to the brake pedal as I have never mounted it on my tractor. It seems that it would be above and slightly left of the left brake pedal.

Thats not a #45 it is a model#50 loaderif I remember the number right.I'd have to look it up to be sure. Two of my uncles have these loaders one of them has hydralic cylinders to dump the bucket the other is a manual trip. Must not be real popular as nobody else noticed.

RonL:

I would say you have something special there. I have not seen a 45 rigged that way. Kind of interesting.

Can you describe the valve ? Does it have a normally neutral position ?

I'm thinking that the pressure hose goes to the valve, then a teed hose from the output to each cylinder, and probably a return hose from the valve to allow the loader to come down.

The most common mistake people make is that the #45 loaders do not have double action cylinders the leather cup packing in them is only for one way. They do use the front of the cylinder for a oil resevior on the A,B,50,60 type tractors as they don't have enough oil capacity. on the 520,620,720 tractors they use one hose and put a breather in the front of cylinder. My #45 loader worked best when I hooked the hoses to quick couplers that I installed on the right hand side
of the power trol on my 50 I teed after that and ran hoses up each side of loader. If you hook on the side you don't get down pressure on the front hoses when lowering which makes it drop smoother.

Ron L:

I'm looking at my 45W manual right now, and there's not a real good picture of the hoses, but it's pretty simple. Assuming you are using double action (two hoses to each cylinder), the pressure out from the Pow-R-Trol (lower plug or lower side pipe plug) tees to the two hoses which go to the cylinder ends mounted closest to the axle. The upper Pow-r-Trol port is return oil, and it tees to the two hoses which route to each far end of the cylinders.

Other than measuring the lengths for your tractor, that should do ya. Then it will raise/lower with the Pow-R-Trol lift lever.

I figured you had a trip buck, if it's hydro, get back with me as my 45W is power bucket.

Ron

YOu might want to call JD publications. They may have a manual for that loader. The book was very helpful for me on my #35. I do have down pressure on the #35 and has not caused a problem yet, but it is mounted on a 420. Good Luck.

You want to get pipe pieces to thread onto your hydraulic outlet and a T that each hose will thread into. I believe each hose is the same length and it seems like 5 feet is what it runs. Length will be important to keep hoses from dragging or being bent to hard in one place. Should only have up pressure hoses. I have seen down pressure used on them but you have to watch not to get too rough with the loader. If the loader don't break, main cases and such can.

I have a 45W on a 620... my hoses split right where they are connected to the hydraulic outlets, and two hoses go from there to each cylinder.
