liked the use of the lifting stan. Some 2 years ago I took this to a different dimension. Used a #9 mower cradle and welded to my lifting stand, reinforced the lateral movement by adding some additional staps and braces, placed a center link hook. When I work on a wheel/motor ie, on concerete or dirt, can back my tractor closed, use the lift for rapid movements, then fine tune with the hydraulic jack. Works like a charm. I may be giving away a trade secret, but I haven't seen anything like this on the market. If I want to use a a rollaround, I simply remove and put the legs on. Recently I wanted to pack some center to my bone yard, no problem. Have been a veteran of this post, however haven't mastered adding photos or I'd send you one. I've also found that square oak blocks work good as safety supports. Really like your project.

ChuckW:

Now that's a great idea ! I bet I could modify my little 3 pt. carryall (it would need braced), and place my engine hoist on it. I'll have to look into that....that would be great for those micro adjustments especially when you're working by yourself !

Neat !

If you use AOL, I can show you how to post pictures. If you don't, you need a server where you can store your photos, but the posting is pretty easy. I like doing it becsaue I think it it helps describe thigns better than I can !

The ole' 70 is coming along. I'm going to put a new water pump shaft and bearing in it tomorrow. The old one was very gravelly. Check this out....the double ball-bearing, including the shaft (comes as a unit), from Deere...$ 10.85. I was stunned...I thought it would have a 1 in front of that.

You never know.

Frank
