Sounds like 2 things going on here. 1. Smoke from ventelator tube is crankcase blow-by. This means combustion products (exhaust) is getting past the pistons. This is usually caused by worn/broken rings and worn sleeves. The only real way to fix this is major overhaul. Get a sleeve set, it will come in the overhaul kit as a set of pistons, already ringed inside the sleeves. 2. The water problem. If your radiator cap is equiped with a vent/overflow tube, have the engine on the dyno under load and place the end of the tube in glass of water. If you see alot of bubbles then the head gasket is blown. Typically these engines blew the gaskets internally on the head. Exhaust gasses are being blown into the cooling system, heating the water and evaporating it slowly. This is noted by the test above. If allowed to continue, the head gasket will start to seep water around the center of the block on the left hand side. By the sound of it, since your not reporting water in the oil yet, I would say the sleeves are not cracked, and the o-rings around them are still holding. I would still put it on the dyno at your local dealership and have the test above done on it. I feel fairly confident that you have a blown head gasket and are in need of an overhaul to cure the blow by problem. Good luck...let us know what it was. Thanks~
