Deere Puller

I have a '41 "B" that spent much of the winter on a snow blade & since it has considerable piston-pin wear, needs an overhaul. I haven't spent much time playing with the "B" series, so I have a few questions relative to making good power. What should a guy run for pistons / block / cam / head to make the most power from readily available parts? I have a cracked block (bottom, near frame bolt) so that will need to be replaced. Can a guy bolt in a hi-comp block / head? The current block is the B1305R. I'm not really looking to make a 'puller', but it ought to push a blade of snow faster than 1st gear, or else I'll have to sic that Farmall "M" on the task! :) Tnanks for all the help - Phil

Your bore is currently 4 1/2". The quickest easiest thing I can tell you to do is:
Bore 4 1/2" block out to 4 11/16" and install aluminum pistons for a late model (47-52) B. Yes you can bore one that much without danger. I've done that to 2 different tractors. That would get you up to around 22 horses, that would seem to be the cheapest easiest fix IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR MORE POWER without any other modification.

I've got new and used new and used high-compression pistons in stock that will help to wake the "B" up a little. If your interested give my shop a call ,and I can quote you some prices ,and help with some other suggestions.By the way ,if your "B" has B1305 block ,that would make it a 1939 or 40.Bob,from Triple G Service.1-716-542-3175 , 9am-8pmEST.

My bad - It's a B1783R block - I guess I was thinking of the busted-up, doorstop 1305 that I have in the barn.
