Hi, I have had the cam out of my 1941 A and when installing it back I noticed the cam (opposite one of the lobes) has a small nick in it. I lightly ground this down smooth, but there is still a small pit. Will this hurt anything? Also, do you have to pack the bearings on each end of the camshaft, or like some bearings, are they made to be left alone and lubed during engine operation? If anyone can fill me in I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Luke

No the nick wont hurt anything just be sure there is no bur protruding above the journal surface. Now about the Cam bearings, take the bearings and liberally rubthem down with the white lithium grease(you know the kind that looks like cake icing) just about as much as will stay on there. Then pour some clean motor oil on them to give it A little extra slickey. The grease will ensure there is sufficient lub until the oil gets there. When the engine heats up and the oil gets pumping it will simply melt away.

Good luck
