Adam: You said: ~~I'm restoring a 1950 model B and i would like to know where i can get a decal set that is exactly like the original. ~~ Now when you say "exactly" like the original, those were water-transfer decals like you get in a model airplane kit. Those were the original type, and are still probably available through Deere, BUT, most of those sets are no longer accurate, have extra decals that aren't appropriate, etc. You'll want to stay away from those sets except when you just want to put some decoration on a dusty paint job. Another type available is Mylar decals. These are decoration on a clear Mylar sheet. You will be able to see the gloss of the entire sheet well beyond the lettering. Just so you know. However, most folks today like the vinyl-cut decals that Jorde and K&K provide. They go on one letter at a time (though they are on a backing paper, well I guess a "fronting" paper, so you pull the tape off of the bacl to reveal the (very) sticky adhesive, and after you have them wiped down nice and smooth, you peel the front paper off to reveal the finished product. They really do look sharp! I have installed both K&K and Jorde's, and while the quality seemed the same, I did feel as though the K&K product was a bit harder to get the paper to remove completely. Hope this helps! Frank-in-Tallahassee 70D // 855 // VAC [email protected]
