Fly wheel clank

I have a 1938 Model B that i've gotten running recently, but it has a knock that seems to be comming from the fly wheel. I have 10 weight oil in the engine and have changed the gear oil. Is there a way to lubricate the flywheel? What else could be causing this Knock? Also, what size tires should be running on this tractor(thinking about replacing them with new rubber).

I have 12/4 x 38's on my 1950 "B" and I think it looks great with that size on it.

You have to get the flywheel on tight or it is going to knock. Even if the clamp bolts "seem" tight I get a big pipe on the end of the wrench and tighten some more. Not sure about the B but on my A the position of the flywheel also adjusts the end play of the crank. Have someone push in on the clutch pully as you tighten the center nut on the flywheel, clamp bolts loose. You want a little end play, not too much. Then tighten the clamp bolts down really tight. As others have said it could be wear on the crank or flywheel also but first make sure it is tight on the crank and not too much end play.

I would use a lot heavier weight oil in the engine also. I run 30 W in mine.

Ken , Why have you got 10 wt. oil in the crankcase , just wandering cuz I live in the south and use 20w50 in all of mine .

There is a possibility that the flywheel is slightly loose or the splines are wore and letting it "bump" around. You could shim or buy a taper lock flywheel to fix if this is the trouble. I think it should have like 9x36 rubber, at least that is what mine had.

where do you get the shims or do you cut some strips of metal and put in the gaps and tighten? that kind of materal should be used? what is a taperlock flywheel? where would get one? $?. thanks
