430U Running Poorly!!

My '58 430U started running poorly this weekend while brush hogging the place. I replace the plugs, which appeared to be carbon fouled, checked the ignition, and cleaned the carb. The tractor starts hard (used to start EZ)and misses at operating speed. When running there is a good hot spark at the distributor. Any ideas where to go next?

Prune Picker, those models are bad about fouling the plugs. First you might try some new Autolites or maybe a set of non-foulers. Make sure you have a good flow of gas to the carb. Adjust the load needle on bottom of carb. with throttle wide open, turn it IN until engine sputters, then open it one full turn. Does the tractor smoke? Run a compression test, see if there is a big difference between cylinders, should be around 100 lbs. If there is a compression problem, then maybe its time for a rebuild: valve job, head work, rings, cracked head, ect.
