Guys, Guys, Guys, The late styled B will carry 4-row cultivators in 4th gear with no problem. Well, one problem. It can crack the frame if you don't slow down on turning around and they get to rocking back and fourth. We ran a 50 model B in 4th right beside a 49 A in third many years. Was the only time I wanted to drive the B instead of the A.

Hmmmm. I used to lay by corn with the 4010 wide open in 7th..... That B crawling along would be a little slow for me....4 row is TOO MUCH culitvator for a B... Neighbor I used to work for made a home-made 6-30" row cultivator for His 520.... He only used it a year or so... then put a rear mount on His 4020.

Mr. Frisk, the late model "B" gasoline tractors were entirely capable of powering a 4-row cultivator. And anyone who cultivated with a 4010 in 7th gear was a fool! If you don't have something constructive to say, why don't you just say nothing, or start a website of your own, where you can spew out your ridiculous nonsense, as it is quite obvious you don't have a clue about much of anything, but seem to think you do.

You can idle along at that speed with a rotary type cultivator. We did with an Allis 190 and a Lilliston cultivator for years.

Denny, A-C didn't ask about buying a tractor only about value of cultivator. He said it was for an A or B, so Deere must have felt it was OK for the B also. I agree with Phil and CLW. We had a 52 B with 4-row planters and cultivators and it carried both just fine. Don't know about 6-row cultivators on a 520, 620 was smallest I ever saw on JD's. Still trying to figure out how a 4010 & 4020 got into this discussion.

Most 4 row cultivators were for A and G. Alittle too much for a B. Worth, about $100.00 to right person.

If it's truly complete, it would be worth about a 150 bucks to me, depending on how far I've got to go to get it. By the way, a 4 row is too much for a B to push, although I guess it could in good conditions, a late B, that is.

Dukester, if it is a 4-row corn/soybean cultivator like those used in the Midwest in the 1950's, it involves pushing 16 shovels thru loose dirt, & dragging 2 gangs behind to fluff out the tire tracks - under those conditions is was easy work for a B. Have a good one.

Well Phil, mebbe you're right, if you figure it your way, but here in southern Michigan where we got some hills and various soil conditions, 2 plow tractors are just a little light in the a-- to handle 4 row cultivators. Like I said in the previous post, a late B might get by for a while but sooner or later it's marginal power and weight will cause problems. Most 4 row cultivators usually have about 16 teeth on the front gangs and 4 or 6 on the rear gangs, 6 gauge wheels and a heck of a lot more frame than the 2 row rigs B's are happy with. I tried a 4 row on a Super H Farmall once and that didn't work out too well either and most Super H's have a little more poop than B John Deere's. Just not enough tractor my friend.
