Just bought a nice 2 bottom trailer plow on rubber today. It been stored in a barn and is complete and in very nice shape. Spring isn't to far away and I hope to do some plowing with it soon! The right plow beam has the number 612 cast into it and on the left it's 613. The beams are not flat stock. I think it has 14" bottoms on it. Would anyone know what model this plow is??

I was told mine is a model 44 as it has a closed trip mechanism. If open mechanism it would be a model 52. Same beam numbers.

NO NO NO The beam numbers on the 44 plow is , 28161, and 28162. The 44 is a bolt together flat bar steel plow. The 52 is a cast beam plow with frame numbers of 612, and 613. The 52 and the 44 both had open and closed trip mechanisms. Just depends on the year. Your info is wrong.

Will, The #44 plow never was made with the open type clutch. Everything else you said was correct. Generally the open clutch was discontinued about 1940 and replaced by the enclosed clutch,it was different for different model plows. The #44 plow was first built in 1945. Bob

Thanks for clearing that up. I always called it a model 52 until I was told differently because of the enclosed trip mechanism. Mine is a 52, then. 2-16's

Peter,
You have a #52 John Deere plow which was made from 1935 to 1947. This plow came with 10,12,14 or 16 inch bottoms. I hope that helps you. Ken

Thanks, Ken. I'm going to see if I can pick up a manual for it.
Much appreciated.
