This may have been asked before but, here goes. I need to replace the battery in my Model 60, what is the best way to go,two 6V's or one 12V. I can buy 6V batteries with 625 CCA for $30 ea. When using 2 6V's does it also double the CCA or will I still have what the batteries are rated at seperatly. Also just found a 49 MT whats a fair price? Metal is very good, starts and runs great. Small leak underneath that looks like hydrolic fluid. Motor looks solid, new carb. The only thing I see wrong is that someone has cut the rear axles off, (so they could mow close to the fence). Dont know what they are asking yet, will call them tomorrow.
Thanks in advance.

Totally up to you. I have one 'cheap' 12V around 500 CCA in my 630 with a factory standard 12V positive ground generator.

Two 6V will give you more cranking amps when wired in parellel only. When wired in series ( to get 12V ) only voltage will be increased.

You are right about having 2 sixes in parallel. But he needs 12 volts. So putting two 6 volt batteries in parallel will do him no good, unless he's got a 6 volt system.

2 sixes in series: volts =12, CCA stays the same.
2 12's in parallel: volts =12,CCA is doubled. (just like always having it jump started)
On my gassers, I always replaced the 2 sixes with one heavy duty 12, and always got along fine, even in cold weather. Today's heavy duty 12 volt batteries can have somewhere around 900 CCA. Along the same lines, I currently have in my 730 diesel elec. start, 2 heavy duty twelves hooked in series, and they've been in there for seven years. Still starts good. Knock on wood.
