Is it possible to bore out the cylinders in a JD 50? I don't plan on boring out the cylinders until the day they are scared and need it. I just wanted to know if it's possible. What other upgrades do I need to be aware of if I do bore the engine out?

Sure, you can Bore a 50...

I suggest you would want to get the higher compression "High Altitude" pistons....You might even check to see if "520" pistons will fit...they were 7 to 1 for gas, stock..!! Go to at least .090" over-size... You will see a definite power increase..!! Re-Bore kits are available from many manufacturers...( about $ 309.00 to 425.00 )
