I receintly purchased a john deere A with 36" split rims. I don't have alot invested.
I was wondering if it would be better to part the tractor out or keep it together.
I have heard the rear split rims are sort of rare, hopefuly someone can give me some advice.

Kevin, My 39A has cast centers w/36' split rim,my 40A has cast centers w/38' rims. I believe the 36's were available up until 6 speed trans. came out for the 41 model year, with 38" as an extra option for those years?

I have seen two sets of 36" split rims only on 1940 tractors. An "A" and a "B". Rare? Some one, or maybe you, posted about a week ago about 36" split rims. Is it on a 1940? If so, keep it together.

My 2 cents.

I have a 39A with 36 inch cast split rim wheels-this tractor is 100 % original-runs very good-metal is excellent-can't hardly believe yet I was able to buy this at a good price a few years ago-came with a belly slung 2-way plow. I hear so many pros and cons on wether to leave original or redo it- which would only require a good paint job-any ideas from you guys. I am the 3rd owner-previous owner says it never sat outside or had antifreeze in it since he owned it-1942-1997. Should I repaint it?????
