A lack of options doesn't make a tractor more
valuable, although there were not many around,it's
not something anyone would hunt for,and a lot
would pass on.

My 2cents:

If you are satified with the tractor I would probably leave it the way it is.

If you are planing to operate on a daily basis that thing will wear you out without power steering.

Look at it this way - When you go to shows you have what I consider a unique piece. I don't know the last time I saw one without PS.

I agree with Brian on it being worth more with power sterring. However, what you have to go through to repair the pump or motor assembly, might make you have second thoughts. I am just getting ready to tear mine down for repair.

When the front seal in the pump blows you are immediately in a cloud of smoke from the hot manifold and you and the tractor are full of power steering fluid. In my case thank goodness for glasses.

john deere power steering good, char lynn power steering bad. don't settle for a after market power steering unit. they look bad, and tear up a manual steering system that wasn't designed for the extra torque of the power steering motor that mounts on top of the hood, just ahead of the steering wheel. my dad had one installed on his 60 back in 1970 used a oldsmobile steering pump that looked out of place under the hood that ran off the fan belt. he pulled a A.C. round baler three seasons before the steering gears wore out. the steering motor on top of the hood started to leak oil. it was a sad looking old tractor, and you couldn't go back and weld the steering shaft back together or fix the big holes drilled in the hood
