The tractor is fine in all gears but jumps out of 2nd under a load. This seems to be the best gear for pulling a 2-row disc harrow. I pulled the shifter and the fork is worn a little bit but can't believe this is the problem. Am I missing something? All gears look new like condition from what I can see from the top. Also the tractor seems to like to run ~225 to ~230 degrees. Is this normal? Thanks for the help!!

Sounds like it is too hot for a 2 row disk, I routinely pull a 4 row disk in mixed ground in fourth. Does it not have the power to pull in a higher gear?? I'm thinking stopped up radiator or maybe thermo stuck. My 730 runs that hot but it takes about half a day with a 4 row disk pulled DEEP to get it there, when it does get that hot it is time for LUNCH!!!

It might pull at a higher gear, haven't tried past 3rd. It runs about 180 just messing around. It might need the radiator cleaned or maybe a good flush. Have some paint pluggage in the front screens I think might be part of the problem?

Sorry missed one part in my reply, I reguarly pull a 4 row (13 footer) with a 60, do the same with a 730 too (730 will WALK THE DOG too, fresh rebuild with high altitude pistons and head rebuilt). The 60 is pretty close to a 620. MHO

I have the same problem with my 630 gas. I did not have the problem before I had the trany apart, and I replaced all of the bearings. I know that it is not the bearings on mine, or worn out gears. I think that I did not get the detents on the shifter rails set right. they are located behind the tin cover on the flywheel side. I have not had the chance to tear it apart yet to fix it.

The reason I was in my trany was because it made a lot of noise in high gear. I had a twisted shaft in the trany, where the 4th and 6th gear slides.
