I have a 4020 which has an engine noise at idle. There seems to have been a power loss also. I changed the injector pump, and tested all of the injectors. Any ideas? thanks.

What year of 4020, did you open each injector line one at a time to see if the noise starts and stops at one cylinder more than the rest of the cylinders, have you had this tractor for a while or recently bought it? Have you changed fuel and air filters recently, has this tractor sat for long periods without use, any recent engine work other than pump and injectors, was this present before the pump and injectors

are you sure its engine noise and not a worn hyd pump drive coupling? I have had many a 4020 come into the shop with engine noise only to find a bad pump coupling.

Check the rocker arms and push rods for bending and breaking and ajust the valve clearance.

Checking the valve-train is a good idea - I've seen the aluminum rocker shaft clamps break before. You didn't really mention what type of noise you have. If it's a knock, I'd install a manual oil pressure gauge and check oil pressure - I assume your tractor just has an "idiot" light. These lights frequently don't work and only come on when the pressure is low enough to have already caused damage to the engine. You could also check your timing gears etc. Sometimes it's very hard to pinpoint the source of a noise - especially in a diesel.
