Try www.guageguys.com I have the tach from my 720 there getting rebuilt now. But, first let me tell ya' that it isnt cheap. But, if you intend to keep it original go for it. Ive heard from some very trustworthy people that they do absolutely great work.

Tyler:

I have a 70D tach that I need to get cleaned and a new lens.

Could you define "..that it isnt cheap" ?

How much do you expect to have in it, and what was the condition before repair ?

Thanks.

Well, my tach was in pretty bad internal shape. The tach and hour meter were not functional at all. They replaced all of the internal gears with NOS parts, replaced the benzel or lenz, replaced the rim, and the hour meter numbered discs. They charged 30 I think for the lenz and 15 for the rim. The internal parts were like $80. If my math is right that adds up to $125. I think that they charged another $130 for the labor. So it totaled a whopping $255. I know what youre thinking, I spent way too much, but it was my decision. It might be worth a call. The phone number of guageguys is listed on their web site- www.guageguys.com They are located in Minnesota

Tyler:

No, I'm not thinking that. I'm thinking, why not have them put your original looking tach face on the still-available-from Deere-for-$153.50-tach ? The new tach loks just like yours, but it carries a number and id when they decided to include the 70-720-730 under the same tach.

Then you'd have the originality of the face, and brand new guts !

But, hey ! Thanks for the info. I'll probably have them clean and re-lens my old one. It works well, but I nicked the lens with my sand blaster....ooops!
