Front wheel removal JD 70

I have changed the front tires a few times on my 70 with a "roll a matic" front end but have never been satisfied with a paticular "jacking" technique. What has anyone found for a safe, effective approach to lifting the front of the tractor? Thanks, Ken

Break the lugs loose, then drive the good tire up onto some 4x4's, 4x8's are even better. You really will need to get the "good" tire up about 7"... Otherwise, jack the front end up from behind the front wheels using a 4x4 between the frame rails, but with the jack nearly under one of the frame rails, so the 4x4 doesent break...

Just make sure to keep away from the lower
water pipe when you put the 4x4 between the rails.
You'll need to stay back a ways for the tires to
clear. (and block or lock the rear wheels-
sometimes when a fella gets in a hurry, he forgets
and wishes he hadn't.) Might as well check the bearing while you've got it jacked up, too. pb
