Tried to start my 67 4020 this morning and it wouldn't even make a sound. It has been a month or two since it was last started and it fired right up. One battery has 12.6 volts and the other 12.4. There is 25 volts at the starter with key on. Checked for broken and chewed wires but did not find any. Also jumpered push button switch and nothing happened. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

remove batteries and fully charge.reinstall, don't forget to reverse the polarity at the voltage regulator.if it starts then you probably have aproblem with your breaker points in your voltage reg.(stuck)one way to notice it is by placing your hand on the reg.after tractor has cooled off and if you feel heat then your reg. is stuck and draining your batt.

Might well be neutral-start switch; know which two posts to short on solenoid so as to by-pass key and starter button? If you try that, MAKE SURE IT'S IN PARK!!!!! People get killed doing this if tractor is in gear.

Thanks for the reply but I found the problem. Would you believe a blow fuse? Thanks again and thanks for the advise. We never can take safety too seriously.
