A few weeks ago I posted a message regarding my 1950 model B not wanting to start. Most of you that replied suspected the coil as being the culprit. I have just now been freed up from work to where I can get started on getting it fixed.

I found the coil wired with the wire from the distributor going to the negative post of the coil and the wire from the dash switch going to the postive post of the coil.

With a postive ground system, should not the wire from the distributor go to the positive post of the coil????

Thanks in advance

Dick

Yes because that wires goes through the points then to the tractors frame which is tied to the positive post of the battery. If miswired, it would still run, but the coils efficiency is somewhat lessened. Good luck Ol John T Nordhoff in Indiana

POPPER DICK, battery positive ground should be positive terminal on coil to distributor.

Thanks Clooney, common sense told me thats the way it should be. Tomorrow or Monday I'll roll her out of the garage, gas her up and try her out.

I changed her oil and filter today and bought a new coil. Hopefully she will fire up now.
