Mechanicaly there is more difference between a green dash 820 & a black dash 820 than there is comparing the blackdash 820 to the 830.

Injectors, pumps, timing and camshaft. Bout all thats different. Same CID on engine. Different sheet metal, few different options, thats about it.

There are the older large two cylinder and newer small three cylinder utility tractors, and they all go by 820-830. The utilities were made in Germany.

Mechanically, they are the same. The engine may have gotten slightly better injectors, or other details, but basically the same.

The 820 was only avalible with a pony engine start. The 830 could have that, or an optional 24 volt electric start system.

The major difference is a new look. The sheet metal is different. You'd have to find a picture of an 820 and 830 to tell the difference.

Good luck,
Brandon
