When I was a younger my greatgrandpa had an old John Deere tractor. I think it might have been an
"A" or a "B". It had spoked wheels and was a narrow front. Since I was very I don't remember much about it. All my grandparents have is an old picture of it and they don't know much about it. I would like to know a little more information about it. Maybe a few pictures. All in all I would like to have a tractor like the one he used to have some day.

I would think that it would be an "A" or "B", they both are similar in looks in the early years. Spoke wheels on the rear were common until the mid '40s. If you can tell in the photo if your tractors muffler and air stack are in line with each other, it probably is a '39 to '46. More than likely an early '40s model as solid wheels became more popular after '43. If the air stack and muffler are side by side, it will be a '32 to '38 model. You may go to the left of this page and look under gallery "tractor photos" under search put John Deere "B" and pull up a '38 model or earlier and/or a '39 model thru '46. See if either of these look like the photo you have. If you know what year the tractor was owned or the photo was taken, it would be a big help. Anything '38 or older is called unstyled, '39 and above is styled. Hope this helps.

I looked at the photo closely and saw that it was an "A". My grandfather believes that it was a late 30's model maybe? It had rubber tires on it.
Any more info on a late 30's model A would be very helpful. Thanks for all help so far.

BIG J, Does the tractor have a grill over the radiator or is the radiator exposed? How can you tell it's an A? Do you know if it has a starter, or is it hand start? Can you tell if the muffler and airstack are in line or side by side?
