First of all I would like to thank the people who replied to my post on JD Rollguards the other day. For a long time I have wanted a JD 6030 so I worked hard, saved hard and bought one. I now need a Rollguard to comply with Health and Safety rules which is fair enough because you cannot be to carefull. I do not really want to fit a second hand one as I would not know the history of it.I priced a new Rollguard in the US and was given a quote of $700 plus shipping which I do not think was to far off the mark. When I priced one here in England the JD dealer wants 1010.50 STERLING which roughly equals $1717.85 US dollars ! WHAT A DIFFERANCE. Does anyone know why this is ? The only thing that runs like a deere at the moment will be me, running from the sales counter ! I thought JD would do some kind of deal as an incentive to promote safety. Dont get me wrong I dont expect things for nothing but I dont expect to be ripped off when it comes to safety. Sorry for the long ramble but I would appreciate any input especially from Deere employees. Thanks.

If I were you I would look for a "second hand" one. If you can see it on the donor tractor you can tell if it is bent or sprung. Many of the Roll bars on the big JD's were also filled with sand to add weight and help with rigidity. I don't know where you live in England, but you must really have some steep hills. I've been on some really steep slopes here on the east coast with my 6030 and I honestly think you would have to try hard to turn one over, mine always slides even with the duals off.

JOHN DEERE DID TESTS WITH THE 5020-6030 TRACTORS TO ROLL THEM AND WITH DUALS ON THE ONLY THING THEY COULD DO WAS DRIVE THEM UP A STEEP BANK AND DUMP THE CLUTCH, THEY WOULD COME OVER BACKWARDS BUT THEY COULDN'T ROLL THEM. DON

Try another JD dealer and see if their price is the same or lower.
