Every evening when I check the board, ocasionally a technical question will interest me and almost always I will scroll down to Clooney's reply because his usually makes the most sense and he is always the most humble when dispensing assistance. This G Taylor dude takes himself just a little to seriously and usually brings a dump truck load of attitude along with him.HJ

I have to agree that Clooney is a subject matter expert on the JD scene. He is very knowledgeable, courteous, and doesn't hesitate to assist someone in need. Even if he's answered the same question over and over.

He reminds me of my father and my uncle. Those two guys have more knowledge of JD and machinery than anybody I know. Sometimes I think it's a shame they can't share their knowledge in this format, but neither are computer literate.

Thank you Clooney!!

The way it sounds, Taylor, Clooney and Thinker are the JD experts. Guess this hobby will go to pot when they pass on?????

Didn't realize this was a board for hobbyists....some of us are trying to scratch a living out of the ground using these tractors. Very much appreciate the expertise offered by various post(ers).

I usually keep fairly quiet and just read these comments, and only say something if I am sure of my answer. I can't understand why some of you are complaining about Clooney and some of the others. Their answers aren't hurting you and at least when they do answer they are RIGHT. Are these complainers unhappy because they aren't the center of attention? Personally, I really enjoy reading most of these answers and consider who is talking. My 2 cents. If you don't agree with an answer don't do it, but don't cry either!

Not if you read, remember, and learn a little
from what they've had to say. Show a little
patience and understanding when you try to help
someone and they won't be forgotten and the hobby
with grow a little, right along with you. pb

Budd, actually I work in advanced engineering for one of the big 3 auto companies, but have been around & worked on the old 2-cylinders most of my life. They are a pretty simple machine when compared to the modern auto/truck with multiple onboard computers & integrated fuel injection...

After reading & hearing some of the repetitive silly questions that basic physics & common sense could answer plus "old wives tales". No wonder Mr Thinker gets a little weary hearing about the original flat top fenders on the 1922 LP fuelled model D highcrop that Great Uncle Fred used to grow/harvest turnips with. Questions about how much an unseen tractor is worth, unleaded fuel,JD green paint colour, non detergent oil/multi-weight oil, replacement tags and service information readily available cheap in black & white from 1-800-522-7448.I would also be cranky with tinkers with bucks for a 24 of beer in the workshop but no cash for a torque wrench or manuals. Also why do some people cling stubornly to advice they heard from "Fred" down at the diner instead of published facts quoted by the pro's from factory info. Clooney happens to have a saints patience and practices it daily working in the politically correct corporate world where some types of honest replies can get you fired. I personally enjoy/use/value both their answers & Mr. Thinkers dry humour has made many smiles.

Well Mr. Taylor; not everybody is as smart as you and knows everything there is to know about everything in the universe. Some people are not as arrogant as you and will ask for sincere advice and expect a civil answer without abuse. All people should be treated in a respectful manner regardless of their question or background. Next time you stop to ask directions I hope the person you ask says "you dumb s.o.b. you should have a map and I'm tired of people asking me directions on where they are going so call the Canadian road commission and buy a book on travel in Canada".

I agree with all the above, I value Mr. Thinker's answers and Clooney's also, they just have different styles. Clooney is a class act and an asset to this forum, very patient with the newcomers, a good writer and has both book and practical knowledge. I always read his answers even if it's on a topic I'm not particularily interested in, as I learn a lot from him.
