John, If some of the guys think you can put a 48 loader on your standard, I've got one with the two-cylinder hook ups in the classifieds. It is on a 630 now and has some adjustment in the brackets. The good thing is it mounts to side frame as well as going back to the rear axles. They work great and are a heavy nice loader.

came back inside to correct myself, but see it's already been done for me. my eyes skipped right over the standard designation and my brain was thinkin row crop. i honestly don't know on a standard. sorry i didn't get back inside sooner to correct myself. these other gentlemen have more experience w/standards. in my area (nw iowa) i've only seen 1 working standard 30 series, as the row crops were most popular.

You may have a problem finding one to fit a standard. The mounts on the row crop tractors bolt to the frame and the rear axle. You might possibly have some luck with a JD 48 loader if you can find the 2 cyl. mounts. Even these will require some adapting where they mount to the axle housings as they are different from the row crops. I would not advise using a loader that mounts just to the front frame, theres a good chance that this will snap the frame under heavy use.

Some years ago, the local JD dealer mounted some kind of a Westendorf loader on a 70 Standard---and broke the tractor in half---he was dumb enough or stubborn enough that he did it twice!! Don't even think about putting a loader on your tractor unless you have some way to tie it to the rear axle housing. You can't use a No. 45W JD loader, because the threaded holes for the mounting brackets are not drilled in the rear axle housing on a Standard, and you'd have to take the fenders off, anyway, even if the holes were there.

I am not saying you can't put a loader on a 720 standard, but I have not seen a standard with one.

absolutely! there are lots of loaders out there to choose from. just be sure you get the right mounts. hand clutchers aren't the handiest to use with a loader, but you can get by fine after you get used to it. i've had one on an A, and a 720 will be better- live power, power steering.

A wide front tractor will require the Deere 45W loader. A rowcrop would be better with the beefier model 50. For similar US$ and more satisfaction just come up to Canada & with the exchange you can take home a 20 through 40 series tractor with a loader, high pressure/volume hydraulics, power brakes, power steering, shuttle shift. A hydraulic bucket is required or you will curse the trip setup & yourself for buying it.
