720 Tachometer

I had my tach cable disconnected because of the terrible growling noise it made. I took the cable off and hooked one end to a drill and the other in the tach. I couldnt get the needle to move (and I tried both directions because I didnt know which way that it turned)*I went slow as not to possible damage it further. I'm wondering if anyone can repair mine. I would like to keep it original. It has 7034 hours on the meter. Also, if it cant be repaired, where and how much can I get one for. I want to stay original.

Never had much luck repairing them, you can still get them new thru John Deere, not too bad on price either, as well as a new cable..good luck

i just bought a tachometer and cable for my 720
from the johndeere dealer. i think i paid 160 for
it.

Did you do the repair yourself or did you have someone who knows what they're doing fix it?
