If you want to know what causes the frost, the air going through the venturi in the carborator creates lower pressured air to suck the gasoline into the engine. Both the lower pressure and the evaporation of gasoline creates a real cold air that cools the intake manifold bolaw freezing. Any humidity in the air will collect on the cold manifold.

my '48 B, '49 A, & 706 farmall all have a tendency to frost up when it's cold out, especially cold & humid, until they warm up and the engine heat thaws the carb body out. i usually put some fuel de-icer in with the gas in winter and this helps. closing the shutters and having the sides covered (i have heat housers on the A & 706), along with a little fuel de-icer cured it for sure. hope this helps you.

On the 50 B that I had, it did the same thing around 25 to 40 degree's. Only if you could get the engine to 150 or greater it went away. Make sure the sutter's are tightly closed. I remembered an older B that I saw in a salvage yard that had a heat sheild on it, it covered the entire manifold, I built one like it from memory. I don't know if deere ever made this part for cyclone version. But anyway I created one & painted it & had NO more frosting problem's. RLA
