I know this site is for the older model John Deeres, but some of you must have newer ones also. My brother who is a dairy farmer here in northern Wisconsin is looking at a 93 7800 model John Deere with the mechanical front assist. Has about 3700 hrs on it. Runs good and is clean. Has anybody out there know of any problems pros or cons about this particular model. Anything to watch for? Thanks

I worked at a J.D. dealer that sold a fair amount of 7800's. We didnt have many problems. For us the powerquad trans was perfered. the powershift had some hard shifts. The mfwd seals leaked on some. There was a pip to make sure that park worked rite. some tractors had to be split to fix the linkage. The windows tend to fog up because the blower vents were in the wrong place, the 7810 changed this. no real naging problems that i know of.
