Ok, It's is one thing to joke around in a friendly conversation, but it is nother thing to just completly bash somones hobby. You want tokno the real difference between IH and JD?! It is the # of cylinders,the tin, and the color of the paint. They are all equal tractors,that goes for every tractor made. No matter what the color is.I am only 15 years old, and SOME of our fellow tractor collectors are too caught up in Competition. This is the hobby of collecting tractors. The point of this is to preserve a part of AMERICAS history in farming, not to bash another persons collection. I know many fellow Farmall, Case, Ford, Massey, Oliver, Ferguson, and Minne-Mo collectors that own Deeres. I myself own Deere equipment, But I only have Case and Farmall tractors because I am working my way through the lines. I don't look up to people who give tractor collecting a bad name by making it a competition. It is seldom I see anyone come into the JD board and bash ya'll. It is time to put an end to this. It may not make any sense coming from a teenager, but maybe that is all it takes to get you to WAKE UP! This is TRACTOR COLLECTING, NOT JUNKYARD WARS!

I'm restoring my first tractor. It just happens to be a JD. Mainly because I've always liked the sound of the old poppers. I'm interested in all the old iron. I had someone offer to give me a WC Allis Chalmers if I'd haul it off. I thought seriously about it but decided it would take too much to get it going. I like to do a little good natured ribbing to someone that owns Brand X as long as they know it's all in fun.

Kenny ; I'm glad to see younger people getting into the hobby. And at 15 you seem alot more grown up than most of the @#$%@#&^*!@ who respond to this site. I'm 38 and have been fixing old tractors mainly JD since I was 13. It is really
hard for the average kid - adult to afford this hobby as prices of junk tractors and new and used
parts are through the roof. I think the tractor bug sometimes skips a generation as my kids could
care less about tractors. I like to help others
keep from making the same mistakes I've made,but the bashers-%$#@^&$*# have pretty well discouraged
me from responding to any requests on this site but kids like you keep me trying to help out.

Folks have been back and forth making fun of the other guys' tractors since your Grandpa was a pup. You'd spent your time better doing you home work instead of laying the law down to a bunch of guys who have forgotten more about tractors of all brands and colors than you will ever know. If you can't take a joke, your skin is way too thin to be messin around with tractors. Quit your preachin, brush your teeth and go to bed.

I joke around with friends, not somebody I've never met. I have mostly JD's with one hart-parr. I have owned every brand at some point in my life. If you don't like JD's you have no reason to look at this board.

I love JD's I have a JD JB-A disk harrow, and a JD 45 loader. I was not trying to start an arguement. I should have posted this on the tractor talk, so all colors could get their share. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I like all the colors of the Rainbow when it comes to Tractors, some are better then others and some are just plane junk too. But I don't fight about it, My Ferguson TO-30 is Red and it should be Grey. The JD M I am going to look at buying tomorrow is Original Green & Yellow and it would stay that color too. The Ferguson was Red when I got it and I am not going to repaint my working shinny tractor Grey because it came that way, I will paint it Grey when it needs a paint job. Not everone fights in the color war just a few do, but heck they have been fighting about color for ever, I don't think that will change in my lifetime or yours! Just weed thru it and enjoy the fun. I;m going to settle this question on whats the best tractor. A tractor is only as good as the operator on it, but ,there is always a but in this world. We live in aworld of street appeal right, tractors are like women some guys like blondes some guys like brunets , but if a woman is real sharp sometimes you can't tell if she is a real blonde or a real brunet. Case in point, I'll bet you if you took a international H which is a fine tractor and painted it green and yellow, some body would come along and buy it for a John Deere, Am I right? Years ago the government should have forced them to paint them all green and yellow. I've buried my old B many a time and had to swallow my pride if an international or ford had to pull it out , but thank god they were available. John Deere we will all agree is a great tractor but why did it take Fergerson to show them how to develope the 3point hitch. a man with a 3 point could mow half the field before you could bolt a #5 mower on an old B. I know because I had one, I've made my share of pitman rods . We all have to grow up at some time and admit if the JD didn't go putt putt who would want one in their dooryard. We always planned to hang the mower one day and mow the next, which almost always rained. 3point hitch ,just drop the mower and go, but there are guys that still would say that the JD was the best including me, my father sold them for years. All the tractor companies and engineers contributed to the cause . we used to use a WD45 with bucket and shuttle gear to load manure what a sweet heart to use, the old B with a bucket you had to have 14 feet and 23 hands to use a bucket loader youd wear out the transmission and clutch loading manure. I like my old putt putts and I know guys that would paint their wives green and yellow if they could. I had a brother in-law that for 58 years he drove a Ford pick-up nothing but a Ford drives a Chevy now . Lets give some of the other tractor companies some credit. Nice talking to you

You are a moron that has no brains whatsoever. Number all tractors are not equal if they were there wouldn't be so many different brands, Number two when it comes to pulling i'm a die hard farmall guy but it all depends on who has the right set up for the day. and no international was the first to develop the fast hitch and the 3 point hitch I have documented proof of that so get you facts staight before you open your mouth.

like a lot of people i hop from site to site because i also have more than one color (at present, red, green, and harvest gold). kenny, someone without anything better to do than shake the bushes to see who breaks first, or in your case what it will take to get you riled. (now they'll go after me) but the next time you see the comments that caused you to react and comeback the way you did, just go over to the other sites, hide and watch, and you'll see those comments at the other sites almost at the same time, same comments, different color.....

All I wanted to do was to let all the tractor competitors know that the real reason people got started doing tractor restoring, in my mind, they started it for the love, and the heart. Not to compete to see who's can pull a sled 300 feet or whatever. It was for the love of it. Just to be able to jump on a early 1900's tractor, and listen to it run after 35 years of not running. THAT is the real reason. Revival, rebirth, or resurrection. That's what this is all about!

I'm 18 yrs old and been doing this since I was 12. I think this is just one part of the fun of restoring the tractors, is to have the chance of bragging about them. I know I brag my two tractors I own every chance I get. So calm down, it not something you are going to stop.

I just couldn't resist getting in on this thread!
I have seen a lot of color bashing that resulted from operator error.Example: Someone forgot to service the machine properly or used it for a purpose that it was not intended. So, they ended up with a pile of junk and from then on it was that #$$%^& company that was to blame. When it comes right down to it a machine is about as good as the local dealer for that brand. That is why green is a popular color in this area. Knowlegeable people who care and are willing to help are worth a lot.

dont tell anyone to calm down. you can bragg all you want, that IS part of the fun. but to make someone feel like a misfit because of their tractor color is just plain rude. whether he can change it or not, it is his and everyones right to speak our piece. it seems to me, if a person makes fun of anothers tractor, they are just ignorant about that tractor. obviously there must be some darn good points about the thing to get the restorers interest in the first place.
