The lft and rht shaft are offset from each other. Is this shaft a one piece unit or two shafts in a splined piece? Is it bent or just off a tooth? Also who sells the lift arms. All my stuff is home made. The lift arms are made out plate bent in a U shape and notched. I have learned my leason to not use a boxblade.

Thanks Guys for all the good info. Sounds Like a bent shaft. Mybe one day I will get another one and repair this minor little problem. Anybody want to offer a suggestion as to where to go and buy another shaft?

You don't have a copy of PC 675 do you? If you do you could look at page 124 , item #23, AA 1108 R, which is the square section rockshaft. My illustration shows it to be one piece. If yours is "offset" it can only mean that it is twisted. The "easiest" repair would be to find a salvage yard specializing in tractors this old and get the entire housing, complete, from a donor tractor.

Sorry, My mistake. Grease spot on the book, probably covering up a reference to lh and rh or some such. I checked the PC313 (for the 70) and it DOES show two piece. However, they fit in a casting, sort of an arm, which does not allow for any other than correct allignment. His shafts are twisted, or at least one of them is.

The rock shaft is two piece, if they are off set from oneanother something is wrong. They both butt up to each other & connecting rod whick is square ID ties them together to lift. I don't think there is enough power to give one of these a half twist with a 52 A. But connecting rod could be broke, or someone has been there befor & got them out of time from oneanother. Thats if that can happen. Good luck. RLA

I don't know why or how they could be bent but they must be. Inside the housing, each shaft has a square end that but up against each other in the hyd. piston connecting rod. They are pinned there. They are also solid steel!

What happened with your box blade?

Jon

Box blades tear up stuff when you backup and push. I took the boxblade off and will not use it anymore unless it is to drag only.

The lift uses two shafts. They look like they are square on both ends. The picture is not too good in the book.

The shafts are two peices.....at least on my 50 they are. I would have to assume that they attach inside a spline of some type but would have to look in the service manual to be sure. I am sure someone will know that one for sure. I highly doubt that one 'bent', but I suppose anything is possible.
