Looking to go .125 over on my John Deere R. Can't find them any where. Need pistons, rings and the whole works. Any advise?

Albert told me the other day that you can not get standard or oversized pistons for an R. What they do is bore the block to 6 1/8" and use their own pistons and head gasket. Head work also has to be done for the upgrade. Pistons, pins, locks, and rings are $600. Gasket is $75. Cornetts in Somerset, KY wants $200 to bore the block. They also said that they have many patterns for cams; just tell them what your doing with with the tractor. I don't know how much headwork is or what's involved.

Have you tried Albert Ulrich from Renaissance Tractor? 1(800)784-0026

2-Cylinder Plus Tractor Salvage might be able to help. (417) 589-2634

I have also been told a R can be bored to 6.125 which is standard bore for an 830. I don't know about the head gasket though.

Best of Luck,
Eric
