I looked a 630 (narrow front) today for sale. A couple of questions for you experts. First Non debuque tractor i've looked a buying. The steering colum had a large apparatus on it with hyd hoses running in and back out down into the dash where the Tach should have been. Is this factory I have not seen enough of them to know. could it have been a aftermarket powerstering unit. I saw one painted red today in the pictures ads that looked a lot like the one on the tractor today. Also the tractor was very mechanical sound no smoke, lp, roll a mattic, no original toplink, tin in good shape, tire were weak. fella wanted 3500 for it. how does this price sound . THe tractor is located in north Mississippi. Thanks for the info.

Andrew, it sure sounds like that 630 has an AFTERMARKET Charlyn or Behlen [add on] power steering system on it.. Those add on steering units do work pretty good but are bulky looking & the hoses & tank are usually in the way...

~The only problem with those add-on P/S units are: they put a lot of force on the production steering gears & shafts, that usually doesn't cause a problem if the tractor isn't used extensively for loader use....

~In my estimation those add on steering units neither add to or detract from the tractor's value.. If removed they are worth at least as much or more than the original parts to put the tractor back to production..

~I don't comment on tractor's worth or value without seeing, touching &, driving it first so won't comment on that issue...
