Hi, the tractor has a shuttle shift, it engages into reverse well, but seems slow to engage in forward, it will eventually engage and all the hydraulics work well. I changed the transmission filter and the fluid looked good, what should I look at next? Thankyou for any info you can provide. (I have a service manual on order)

the 410B and older 410 have totally different reversers. The 410B has a reverser with torque converter. A problem that tends to appear on 410B's is with the clutch pedal linkage. As there is no real clutch , what the pedal is actually doing is dumping engagement pressure in the reverser. Check the clutch valve linkage on the left side of the reverser above the battery box area. also check the shift linkage there . There is a combination of aluminum and ferrous metal linkage there and the mixture tends to corrode and sometimes break causing shifting woes. Sometimes all that is needed is to adjust the clutch pedal so it raises slightly. There should be an adjustment stop screw on the pedal area. Or more expensively ...you have an internal clutch pack problem...

John, I have a 410, and when you put it in reverse, it goes instantly, but in forward, it pauses before going in it. Mechanic that rebuilt the transmission told me it is the nature of the beast. Is this machine new to you or did it work different than this before. I have a service manual, but not sure if it addresses this issue. I also have a parts manual if you need any numbers. Hope this helps...Emery
