We have a flywheel for a 4020 gas which is being
installed in a 4020 diesel the starting ring gear
needs switching for starter to work, but new ring
gear is smaller in ID so flywheel needs machining
but need to know how much interference is needed
thank you Gary

I don't think a flywheel from a 4020 Gas will work right on a 4020 diesel. Do they weigh the same? If a flywheel from a Gas would work on a diesel, why is it different from the factory? I think your asking for trouble.

I know that this sounds like alot, but I put around .020 press on when I made a steel flywheel for my 4010 puller. That info came right from a guy that makes clutches and flywheels. A little heat in the ring gear and it will slip right on.

Ive talked to the JD dealer here did not know the fit still trying to locate information. so far your information tends to match another source at between .015" to .024" so I believe i will use this. Thank you,
Gary
