Hi, It can be done. For the 3-pt, I presume the lack thereof also means there is no rockshaft under the seat. You'd have to add that, along with the steel hydraulic lines to the pump. You might even have to add the pump to the front of the engine (I'm unsure if non-rockshaft equipped U's have the pump in place or not anymore). For the PTO, a standard (non-live) PTO would require removing a cover plate on the rear and bolting on the PTO unit. For a live PTO, you'd have to change the flywheel, clutch assembly, bell housing, center frame and transmission. That's the really hard add-on. The live PTO's in these machines required a mating 5-speed transmission, which had twin power inputs. One is the main drive, and the other is the PTO drive. The center frame and bell housings are different to accept the dual clutches (one for PTO and one for drive) and coaxial power shafts. Generally speaking, this was an option that was ordered on a machine from the factory, and not field upgraded. If you find the correct doner machine you could pull off such a conversion, though. Also, there is another option on these machines that allows shuttle shifting, called a direction reverser. Many U's were so equipped and this DR unit fits in place of the center frame. There are two variations on the 420 (early gear-type and later differential type), but both preclude the adaptation of a live PTO arrangement.
