A good 4020 should have 100-05hp , will keep ahead of a 930 anytime . 806 , lots of them around here at one time , they were a tough tractor , good powerfull engine powertrain questionable though . A 4020 would have a rough time with the 806 and probably couldn't keep to a good one on a plow , hate to say it but it's true .
Have you had your 4020 checked lately . Everything has to be up to snuff to get 100+hp , timing , inj pressure , pump setting , valve clearance , probably best to dyno it and see what you got and go from there . With all that aside , I still wouldn't trade my old 4020 for any fleet of 930's or 806's . Won't even mention the Allis. JIM

I'm not saying one is better than the other cause I think they're equal but-I rebuilt a 4020 for a friend of mine about 4yr. ago. It didn't have the power it should have had either . When I was taking it apart I noticed it had 3 cam lobes worn down to about half of what the rest were. I also notice that those 3 lobes were running almost dead center of the lifter hole. Thats what wears off a cam lobe. Obviously that would cause a lack of hp. output on those cyl.,lack of full valve travel causes lack of air movement. Yet you couldn't tell by the sound of it when it was running. I don't know if this is a common problem with that particular engine or not but an easy way to tell on yours is to run the engine with the valve covers off. If the push rods aren't turning around as they go up and down, then you probably have a cam problem.

Judging by the spelling & grammar, it appears a nine year old is trying to start a colour war.

A 190-xt will eat either. Torque, economy and comfort. This is fun..... ....

Guess we'd have to watch that on film...judging by the numbers of Allis XT 190's that I see...

Fun, maybe was fun...

Plenty in my area. If you would ever drive one you'd have to love its smooth power and complete comfort. Traits a 4020 doesn't have.

Yes, you can make a 190XT eat either a 4020 or 930's lunch---for a while. While the Allis engineers could make horsepower, unfortunately they never quite got the knack of builing reliable drive trains. But, it's pulling on the cheap until you break it, 'cause a good 4020 will bring about 3 or 4 times what a 190XT will, when it comes time to sell 'em!!!!!

The 7000 series Allis shows just what quality really is. Beats the 30 Series Deere all to pieces and the 7000 model at 106HP has the same rearend as the later 190-XTs.

A 7000 was the finest flower of Allis-Chalmer engineering? Complete with a cab designed to induce claustrophobia, among other flaws. And worth maybe half of what they cost new, while those "flawed" 30 series Deeres still bring what they cost new and then some..... ..... .
Try getting parts for your orange losers 10 years from now!!!

I too once thought that the allis cab was small until I drove one. My 45lb aussie can't ride in my sound gard cab because their isn't enough room. She could sit behind the seat, beside the seat or lay in the floor board of the allis cab. Not to mention it is quiter than my deere cab even though the allis has a straight pipe and my deere has a muffler. Before you make a statement it's a good idea to have operated both and not go by what something looks like it might be.

Gleaner used to have #1 resale value before Duetz buy out and tractor resale wasn't bad. I paid more than twice the new price of a 190 in 1977. 7000 series had better hydraulics at 45gpm, the quietest cab in the industry (41 sq ft glass same as Deere), extremely reliable transmissions, and excellent torque and economy..... ..FACT; Allis used profits from ag lines to prop up failing electrical and hydro dam divisions. The ruination of the company was bad management. Few dealers left after such dealings. This caused poor resale value more than anything. Allis has yet to recover from loss of market share and may never do so. Deere on the other hand knows how to run a company and could take most any tractor out there, paint them green and sell the heck out of them.

Should mention that a 190 is not designed to turn the horse power up. The first year of production had trouble and gave a reputation for the whole series. The next year the tranny problems were addressed with a heavier rearend. My experience is if left no higher than 110 hp then there are very few problems. 30 years working at dealership and have seen what 150 or more HP will do to these fine tractors after awhile. Allis designed them for a certain HP and thats all. I beleive they are rated at 93 hp but never dynoed one under 105. Resale of these has more to do with Allis's collapse which caused a lack of dealers than quality..... ..seems like I'm rambling.

John, your 4020,like many of us may appear to be ok,but something must really be wrong. If you have had this 4020 for any length of time you probably haven't noticed the loss of power, but something is definitly wrong.A good running 4020 should drag a 930 Case backwards up a good grade with no problem. Before you sell, you may want to have a reputable mechanic look for what you seem to have overlooked. If you decide to sell, the two back wheels on the 4020 should cover the price on the 930.

A good running 930 Case can get down and pull, but a good 4020 has snap and response the Case never had and never will.I guess it all comes down to what you are doing and how fast you want to get finished.

and buy 2 or 3, 930 case tractors.

the 4020 and the 806 should be a standoff, however, both should leave the 930 in the dust.check the injector pump timing if its a diesel, also the injectors.
