Can anyone tell me how much difference there would be in fuel consumption between the gas and diesel 3020 with powershift under light to medium loads(cutting, raking and square baling hay[2500 bales], pasture clipping[50 acres])? I currently use a '65 2020 gas(usually about 3gph) and a '39 M Farmall(2gph). Thanks for any help.

I have a 3020D Powershift , I'd guess it at 2 to 21/2 gph , I also have a 2020 gas and a '49 M but they aren't as economical as yours , the 2020 runs 4-5gph,, I use it daily now moving bales etc and seems like it is always on empty . JIM

Thanks for the information. My 2020 is a highcrop model(looks like the regular utility type with 13.9x36 rears and a taller standard on the front to make it sit level) and the '39 max rpm is around 1600. Our son will be in National Guard training all summer, so I'm looking into changing tractors to make it easier for my wife and two daughters(which can out work most of the young men we know, the younger one unloaded 115 bale in 20 minutes!) to help in the hay. I have some very good neighbors that help, too. Both the gas and diesel models are available reasonably close, but I was curious about how "thirsty" the gas is. Sounds like I need to pursue a diesel. I drove one baling straw over 30 years ago, loved it then and have always wanted one. Thanks again.

The 3020D Powershift is a very handy & economical tractor , but a good 3020D is hard to find and pricey , Powershift is even worse . Probably only 1/3 of the 3020's were diesel and of those 20% were Powershift . That's how it is here in NC Ill , maybe it's different elsewhere . Just thought I'd warn you about that . JIM
