You guys are pretty cool with all your help.
know I hope you can help me. I started my 1st restoration project about a year ago. A 49 B that should have been scraped for iron ,but I
went forword any way. I have over hauled and replaced just about every part on this tractor as for the engine ,I have replaced - crankshaft, bored the cylinders, new aluminum piston, rings, valve job,(twice),intake manifold,carberator,mag(4 times),plugs (twice),wires, checked the timing more times than I can remmeber, compresion tested,(showed just slightly less on right side but not enough to speak of) . Now with all this done to this tractor I would think it should run perfect but it is real weak on the right cylinder
PLEASE HELP and thanks in advance

Randy, I agree with Joe. Could you clarify "weak"? If you are coming to this conclusion by pulling off number 1 (LH) spark plug wire and then pulling off number 2 (RH) wire and comparing them, please don't do this. They will not sound the same. The right hand cylinder on a single barreled carb like your B has does not quite get the same air/fuel charge that the left one does. Therefore, the 2 will not react the same. If you are having other symptoms, let us know. Steve

Hey you guys, tell me more, that is exactly what I mean about weak. Also when Iopen pit cock valves the right cylinder dosent exspell presure like the left side does.Oh and one other thing. When I was checking the timing I went as far as to check top dead center on each cylinder by viewing through spark plug holes, And noticed that right cylinder piston did not come as high as left side,1/4 inch aprox less?

Randy:

The crank throw is the same for each cylinder, so if one piston is not coming up as far as the other, you either have two different rods, or two different pistons. Maybe you have an all-fuel piston and a gasoline piston.

If it's not coming up as far, the compression gage reading should definately be off.

Frank
